Welcome to the Modern Mash-up Quilt Along

...an adventure in English Paper Piecing and Hand Applique!

The Modern Mash-up Sew-along is a modern sampler quilt designed for English Paper Piecing and Hand Appliqué.  It is based on my original prize winning Modern Mash-up quilt:

Whilst the original quilt was 72" x 72" and mostly machine pieced, the Mini EPP version that we will be stitching together will measure approx. 38" x 38" and be exclusively hand stitched.  If you can thread a needle, you can make this quilt top!

The sew along started in February 2019, but due to illness, I have had to change the original schedule. 

So there is still time to join in!  

Each month, the templates and basic instructions will be released here and will be FREE until the next months release.  After which time, the cost of the templates and basic instructions will be £2.50 (approx. $3 USD)  

Don't worry if you can't join us for the live stream, the broadcasts are recorded and will be available for you to watch on Twitch (for approx. 2 weeks after the live stream) or on my YouTube channel at anytime.

There are 10 different english paper pieced blocks featured in the quilt and we will be making a different one each month. 

I am designing this quilt to be beginner friendly and so the blocks will start off very simple and build in complexity as your confidence grows. ** At the time writing, the final block design has not yet been finalised and is subject to change*

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. From 1st May 2019, the templates and basic instructions will be released here and will be FREE until the next months release.  After which time, the cost of the templates and basic instructions will be £2.50 (approx. $3 USD) 
  2. There can be no exceptions made in regards to free instalments.  Please make sure that you download the latest instalment as soon as possible.
  3. There will be no blocks issued in August 2019 as I have my two boys to look after during the holidays and so this time can be used for catching up on previous months if required.
  4. Live streams take place at approx. 10:30am UK time
  5. The last day to download monthly instalments individually will be Tuesday 31st December 2019, after which time, the templates and basic instructions will only be available as a single download purchase.

001. What is a Twitch Creative Broadcaster?

If you take a look at my About Me page, you'll see that amongst being a wife, stay at home mum and obsessive quilter, I'm also proud to say that I am a Twitch Creative Broadcaster in the Makers and Crafting community. WTF is Twitch? When I talk about Twitch and Twitching, I'm not referring to the past time of Bird-watching, nor am I referring to the involuntary eye or body movements you experience when someone refers to your quilted creation as a blanket!  Instead, I am talking about live streaming using the Twitch.tv live streaming platform.
